In collaboration with CCP SyneRBI, we are organising a training school providing hands-on exercises related to basic principles of iterative image reconstruction and associated modelling of the PET acquisition process.

The school will start with a short lecture on basic concepts in PET image reconstruction and an introduction to the Open Source software Synergistic Image Reconstruction Framework (SIRF). This will be followed by group-based practical sessions using SIRF in Python.  The sessions will be based on the Jupyter notebook training material available at github.com/SyneRBI/SIRF-Exercises (SPECT and MR will not be covered in this school). Participants will have access to the material in the cloud and will work in groups, allocated according to their familiarity with Python and PET image reconstruction. Several trainers will be available to help.

Participants are required to have followed the Continued Education Workshop associated to PET is Wonderful, or have obtained basic knowledge on PET physics and the theory of image reconstruction elsewhere. It is highly recommended to follow a Python tutorial beforehand. Appropriate links are available in the SIRF-Exercises.

The school is free to attend, with lunch included, but registration is required. There will be a cap on registrations at 25, so please register soon if you would like a place!

Organisers: Kris Thielemans (UCL), Catriona Wimberley (UoE) and Adriana Tavares (UoE)

Funding: CCP SyneRBI is funded  EPSRC grant EP/T026693/1 and by STFC through the UKRI Digital Research Infrastructure programme.
