DESCRIPTION:This workshop is the second annual meeting of the Edinburgh Ce
 ntre for Biomedical Physics\, http://biomedical-physics.ed.ac.uk.  The ai
 m of the Centre and this workshop is to bring together researchers working
  in the domain of physics for medicine.\nWithin the School of Physics and 
 Astronomy and the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine\, there are 
 many people working on physics-related challenges for the medical domain. 
 This workshop will bring researchers together to foster opportunities for 
 new collaborations.  There will be three main sessions presented during t
 he workshop\, which parallel the three main themes of the Edinburgh Centre
  for Biomedical Physics: (i) detectors\, imaging and analysis\; (ii) molec
 ular mechanisms of disease\; (iii) physics of infection. Each session will
  include 2-min flash talks to showcase the work going on across the colleg
 es in each stream. \nBesides the talks for each theme\, we aim to have pl
 enty of time for discussion at the end of the workshop\, to promote the Ce
 ntre and discuss ways in which workshop participants and others can contri
 bute to it in the future.  The workshop aims to initiate and support cros
 s-institute and cross-college collaborations\, which are an increasingly m
 ore obvious requirement of cutting-edge work in the field.  \n\nhttps://
