The goal of this workshop is to bring together the community of physicists and mathematicians interested in the intriguing relationships that have been noticed between the structure of the standard model of particle physics, and exceptional structures in mathematics. The goal is to bring together theoretical particle physicists who want to understand the origin of the particular symmetries and patterns in the standard model, with mathematicians expert in the exceptional algebraic and geometric structures that seem to be relevant, including the exceptional Jordan algebra (and related Jordan structures), the exceptional Lie groups, the so-called magic square, and exceptional systems of quantum logic. The goal is, on the physics side, to get a deeper understanding of the relevant mathematics, and on the mathematics side to learn about the questions and conjectures of most interest and relevance to physics.
All participants in HCTP activities are expected to show respect and courtesy to others throughout the duration of an event, including at social events. We draw the participants’ attention to the HCTP Code of Conduct
