How to get here
Edinburgh is well served by trains and planes. More details are here. From the airport you can easily get to the city centre by Taxi (around £28 pounds) or by the tram or AirLink bus (£7.5 return) which both run regularly.
Getting around when you are here
Edinburgh University is split across the city. The pre-meetings (on Wednesday and Thursday) and Institutional Board meeting (Sunday) will take place in the physics department which is located in JCMB, on the Kings Buildings site. The Kings Buildings lie to the south of the city. By foot it can easily be reached from the town centre - 30 minutes walking distance - or by taking a bus. We do not advise renting a car, getting around the city by bus or foot is very easy, car parking is limited and the city centre can be very congested at rush hour.
A number of city centre bus services stop near the King's Buildings campus: Services 3, 29, 31, 7, 8, 49 or 37 can be caught from either South or North Bridge. You should get off these buses at the Lygon Road bus stop. The King's Buildings campus is then a 5-10 minute walk away.
The Lothian buses site is here. A single ticket is £1.70, a day ticket costs £4.00. Tickets can be bought on board. Buses only take exact change.
The main meeting will be held in the Universities oldest building - the historic Old College. This is located near South Bridge in the town centre.
Where to stay
There are many good hotels in Edinburgh. A list of suggested accommodation is attached here. These are mainly located close to the town centre and Old College or midway between the town centre and the Kings Buildings.
Where to eat
During the pre-meetings at JCMB we will provide lunches. For the main meeting in town there are many good places for lunch near to Old College, either on Nicolson Street or round the corner in Potterrow or George Bridge. A few for example:

- Elephant House (For Harry Potter fans)
- Brewlab (coffee etc)
- The quad (in Old College)
A list of good places to eat in the evening is here.
